Zar Min Htike is one of three very promising emerging artists we have chosen to exhibit as part of 'Voices of Transition'. Although now heavily involved with the scene itself, and integrated into the tight-knit network of artists, he has only once before exhibited outside of Myanmar. His work conveys a sense of deep suffering and communicates a chaotic and jumbled experience, flitting between sensations of violence and discomfort.

Zar Min Htike's haunting and demon-like sculptures are a central motif of his artistic practice. Having spent time in prison, he remembers the crazed bodies trying to climb walls, play cards, and trying to grow wings to escape the torture of confined space.
